Trailer Bridge launches new Dominican service

Aug. 10, 2007 -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Trailer Bridge, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRBR) is beginning new container service between JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal and the Dominican Republic.

The new service will utilize one of Trailer Bridge’s five Triplestack Box Carrier® (TBC™) vessels – the BROOKLYN BRIDGE – which is the first class of vessels built exclusively to handle high-cube 53-foot containers. The vessel has the capacity to carry 281 fifty three foot long, 102 inch wide containers, or 752 TEUs. Trailer Bridge will commence the new service Aug. 13, departing from Jacksonville for Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic with an interim stop in Puerto Rico. Service from Puerto Plata to Jacksonville will be direct and the company’s first such service to link the growing Dominican economy to Jacksonville’s strategic gateway. Trailer Bridge has ordered 1,000 new 53-foot containers and 850 new chassis in preparation for the expansion.

Ralph Heim, Trailer Bridge President and COO, said, “We are excited with this expansion as it builds upon the cost efficiencies of the Trailer Bridge system and will align them with the strategic advantages of the port of Jacksonville. This new service is a natural next step for our company as it improves our frequency to Puerto Rico and opens three entirely new service lanes.”

“We’re very pleased to see Trailer Bridge expand into new markets such as the Dominican Republic,” said Roy Schleicher, JAXPORT Senior Director of Trade Development and Marketing. “This new service offers a growing economy access to modern 53-foot container service and enhances the shipping options at JAXPORT.”

“Shippers accessing the Dominican Republic now have the opportunity with Trailer Bridge to come closer to the U.S. market and reduce inland costs,” said Raul Alfonso, JAXPORT’s Director of Container Cargo. “Reducing costs and improving competitive market position at JAXPORT are a combination for success.”
