Roy Schleicher has more than 45 years of experience in the maritime industry. He was appointed Executive Vice President for the Jacksonville Port Authority in 2011 following 10 years leading the port’s international cargo marketing efforts and has overseen more than a decade of volume and revenue growth. Roy oversees the optimization of the terminal facilities by increasing cargo throughput for existing tenants and developing new cargo and business opportunities. He was highly instrumental in securing a major contract with MOL for the TraPac Container Terminal at Dames Point and leads the port’s development of future terminals.

During Roy’s tenure at JAXPORT, total annual port revenue has nearly doubled. JAXPORT facilities handled more than 600,000 vehicle units in fiscal year 2012, solidifying JAXPORT’s place as the No. 1 vehicle export port in the nation. In addition, JAXPORT moved more than 923,000 TEUs in 2012 continuing Jacksonville’s position as Florida’s No. 1 container port complex.

Roy was honored as the “2009 International Businessman of the Year” by the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce, the second largest chamber organization in the nation. In 2006, he was named the “Maritime Person of the Year” by the Propeller Club – Port of Jacksonville and recognized as a Transportation Leader in Florida by the Florida Shipper Magazine. He is involved in and supports maritime-related charity campaigns and non-profit organizations.

Prior to joining JAXPORT, Roy was the Director of Marketing for the Maryland Port Administration. During his more than four decades in the maritime industry, he has held various management positions of increasing responsibility for major steamship carriers, terminal operators and logistics companies.
