The Board President of City Kids Art Factory, an after school art program in Durkeeville near JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal, recently presented the port’s Board of Directors with a handmade JAXPORT mosaic created by student campers.

The artwork was presented in recognition of the port’s support of the non-profit organization. The piece is on display at Jacksonville International Airport through the month of November, after that it will be displayed at JAXPORT facilities.

In addition to a monetary contribution, JAXPORT has donated outdated publications for use by the campers, 7-14 years old, to create various paper crafts including birdhouses, sea creatures, hats and even a replica of the White House.

“Our neighborhood students are Jacksonville’s future leaders and engaged citizens,” said Eric Green, JAXPORT CEO. “Anything we can do today to encourage confidence and foster creativity is an investment in a brighter tomorrow.”

“We truly appreciate JAXPORT’s support,” said City Kids Art Factory Board President Patricia Hicks Harley. “Your interest in our community allows the youth we’re working with to think outside the box and create amazing works of art.”

City Kids Art Factory works to bring the community together by fostering interest in the visual arts starting from a young age. Camp is provided at no cost and runs throughout the summer, as well as during school breaks.
