Blount Island Vehicle Berth Upgrades

Significant investments are underway to accommodate an increase in vehicle volumes at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.

In partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), JAXPORT is completing more than $60 million in berth upgrades to increase efficiency and accommodate additional vehicle vessel calls.

Enhancements include:

  • Vehicle Berth 20 is being expanded to accommodate two larger vehicle ships simultaneously instead of one. A new section of berth is being constructed to expand the current “L-shaped” berth to a “T-shape”, doubling the existing berthing space. The project’s design phase is now complete, and construction is anticipated to be finished in 2026.
  • Vehicle Berth 22 is being enhanced to accommodate larger vehicle ships calling the terminal more efficiently. The project will allow larger ships to simultaneously load/unload vehicles from the vessel’s side and rear and is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2025.

Enhancing the port’s vehicle berths increases efficiencies for auto customers and provides additional capacity to accommodate future growth, supporting JAXPORT’s role as one of the nation’s top vehicle-handling ports.
